Star Wars™ Dice App Reviews

Nice app.

Its good app. Nice physics too. I dont feel like Im getting cheated on my rolls. Also saves money and its for iPad and iPhone.

Nice APP but...

Looks cool and works very well. But there is no Option to change the dice manually to a specific side like it is used in x-wing. Please Update this.

Almost Perfect ...

To be Perfect, the App needs an Option to Drag and Drop roll the Dice. Also there should be an Space Battle Sound Pack (Typical Spacecraft Laser-Shots) for an authentic X-Wing Game Feeling. And a nice Bonus: Add some great Background Movie Soundtrack with an Option to adjust the Volume Level.

Sure, it rolls dice

But for a game with a non-intuitive system like the new Star Wars game, it should really tell you what the dice rolls mean. I mean, I got two scary things, three sparks and a dot with wings. Since I havent absorbed the new game system yet, it should really have an option to tell you what the dice mean. And once youve mastered the dice, it can be turned off and you can interpret them on your own. Or not, since even regular dice rolling programs will add up the results of your dice for you. Its not a good intro to the game, especially since the only people playing it right now are the people whove bought into the beta.

Much more useful at the table

The latest update that summarizes results, plus several other tweaks and slight upgrades makes this a much more worthwhile purchase and an excellent and attractive dice roller for FFGs Star Wars RPG: Edge of the Empire. Still a bit expensive for a die roller, the fact that its universal and can run on multiple iOS devices makes it a must for gamers until (and possibly after) the dice packs for the game come out in 2013. Well done.

Great app!

With a summary of whats rolled its so easy to see the final result of a complicated roll. This definitely will help at the table.

Its just okay, but for the price it should be better.

It looks good, and it works but it stops just where it would be the most useful. It adds up the results of the rolls but doesnt give you the actual result after the symbols cancel each other out. For those unfamiliar with the system basically what you need to know is not the total number of each symbol rolled but the number of symbols left after their counter symbols cancel each other out. Its not that I cant do the "math" but at least with actual dice you can take the canceled ones away and quickly get your result, for $5 this app should do this for you.

Wont download

Spent 5 bucks for an app that wont download. Not impressed.

This shouldnt be more than $.99

Basically an unsophisticated dice rolling program with skinned dice to match the various Star Wars themed FFG games. Its an *okay* dice roller, but not at the laughably inflated price point its being offered at. If you really need canned Star Wars themed music playing while you roll simulated dice over Star Wars themed PNG images - you should be able to get that for 1/5 the price. When I pay five bucks for an app, I expect it to be five times better than the hundreds of competitors you will find at 1/5 the price of the price it to be five times better then the hundreds of competitors you will find at 1/5 price point - and certainly not marginally similar and no more better in function or effort. About the only thing this dice program has going for it is that it is officially recognized by FFG.

I like it - improvments possible

I like this app, nice and smooth. I would give a 5 stars if it could calculate the results instead of only showing the dice icons. Also, maybe find a way to use less battery on iPhone 5c. Thanks!

Great dice app

Works perfect. Easy to use and switch up dice on the fly.

Does exactly what its intended to do

I prefer real dice but this app is worth it IMO because its for multiple games and if you have a large game going on its easier to roll on the app than passing dice around

Better than expected

I balked a little at the price, but picked this up as I have purchased both X-Wing and the Edge of the Empire beta. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the app. Of all the different dice apps I have used, this is easily the most polished. There is a nice selection of sound effects and backgrounds to choose from. The dice roll well and the ability to save common sets seems like a plus. As an iPad 2 user, I would really like to see a landscape mode for this app. When gaming I often set my iPad on the table using my smart cover. It would be ideal for me if the app would have an appropriate orientation when I did that. Otherwise, nice app. Recommended if you will be playing FFGs Star Wars games.

Really good, but one missing feature

Really clean and intuitive app, but the obvious missing feature is automatic matching of the various negative and positive symbols. The ability to automate this would speed up ffg star wars significantly. Otherwise, this is a great, well implemented resource.

Great!

I would like to see landscape mode. It is a really polished app. Now if I could just get my hands the the xwing game.

Extremely helpful when playing Edge of the Empire

The ability to save preset dice for skills/attributes that are used commonly combined with the fact that its extremely clear to see the dice results allows for a clean play experience when playing Edge of the Empire! I havent played X-wing yet so Im not able to comment on how the app works for that game, but for EotE my group and I found it to be a huge help. I love how "clean" the app is! My only suggestion for the developers: maybe a quick breakdown on the side/bottom of the display showing the totals of the different dice results (so its a little easier for the GM or other players to see and help newer players).

Great start, but needs just a bit more!

This is a well-polished app, but for $4.99, its missing some important functions. The sounds that are included with the app are great, but there should be a SOUNDBOARD function so that users can play TIE-fighter engine sounds, X-Wing laser fire, explosions, etc at their whim. There should be separate buttons on the roll screen to take advantage of the cool sounds and pilot quotes that are available. If these functions are added, my rating will automatically jump to 5 stars.

Good - and could be great

All the FFG specialized dice are great. The generic d4/d6/d8/d10/d12/d20/d% die NEED to be color modifiable, so if I am rolling 2 d20s, I can tell which result is for which player. I shouldnt have to buy a second iPad so we can tracks rolls! PLEASE make this upgrade so any generic d4/d6/d8/d10/d12/d20/d% die can have their colors chnged by the user! This would boost a really good app to a GREAT app!

Great Dice Application

Im loving this! The sound effects are a bonus.

Broken: bug fix crash introd in latest patch

Latest update introduced bug that crashes when loading presaved dice configs. Worked awesome until that point. The actual game is really fun too!
